AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - latest results

Matches in the Ayrshire Junior Golf League Championship are well under way whilst the knockout competitions have now reached the quarter final stages, with the draw for the quarter finals due to be made next week.

Whilst matches in Section A of the 2011 AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP are still to get under way, matches in the other three section are progressing.

In SECTION B, Irvine (Bogside) have opened their campaign in great style with a 5 - 1 home win over Prestwick St Nicholas being followed by a 6 - 0 away win at Loudoun.

In SECTION C, Ayr Belleisle followed their opening home win over Ballochmyle with a 4.5 - 1.5 win away in the return match whilst Ballochmyle followed their opening 3 - 3 draw with Ardeer with another draw at Irvine Ravenspark, before recording their first win of the campaign with a 5 - 1 win at home to Caprington.

Ayr Belleisle lead the section with 8 points from 2 matches, followed by Ballochmyle with 8 points from 5 matches. Caprington have 2 points from 2 matches, and Irvine Ravenspark 2 points from 1 match.

In SECTION D, Kilmarnock  (Barassie) opened with a 5 - 1 home win over Ardeer whilst Prestwick St Cuthbert had their second successive 5 - 1 home win of the campaign, also against Ardeer.

Prestwick St Cuthbert lead the section with 8 points from 2 matches, followed by Kilmarnock Barassie with 4 points from 1 match whilst Ardeer and West Kilbride have 0 points from 2 and 1 matches respectively.

With Ayr Belleisle, Ballochmyle and Ardeer already through to the quarter finals of the UNDER 16 KNOCKOUT TROPHY competition, the remaining first round ties have been completed in recent weeks.

Caprington received a walkover against Troon St Meddans, as a consequence of their withdrawal from the league championship competition.

Kilmarnock (Barassie) booked a place in the last eight by virtue of a win at the second play off hole following a 2 - 2 draw at Loudoun. Also through after a 2 - 2 draw at home to West Kilbride are Irvine Ravenspark, who won at the third play off hole in their match.

Troon Welbeck beat their visitors Prestwick St Cuthbert by 3 - 1 to book their place in the draw for the quarter finals whilst Prestwick St Nicholas had a 4 - 0 win at home to Largs to go through to the last eight.

In the CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY competition, some match results have still not been notified, despite ties being diue for completion by 5th June.

With Daniel Forbes (Ardeer) already into the last eight Daniel Webster (Prestwick St Cuthbert) and Alan Watson (Ballochmyle) joined him in the quarter finals courtesy of walkovers against Jordan Flynn (Troon St Meddans) and Jack Whent (Largs) respectively.

Ayrshire Boys matchplay Champion David Wilson is through to the last eight courtesty of a one hole win away to Jack McCluskey (Ayr Belleisle) and is joined by fellow Ayrshire County player Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) who won by 3 & 2 away from home against Gary Morrison (Annanhill) to progress to the last eight.
