HIGH PERFORMANCE GOLF SCHOOL - Coaching opportunity programme

Undernoted info forwarded by Alastair Love. Any interested players can contact Alastair direct via the contact details listed below.

"Allow me to introduce The High Performance Golf School at St Andrews. It has been designed to compliment the programmes you have put together in your county for your junior, youth and senior players as well as those on the verge.

George Finlayson, Advanced PGA Professional and Graeme McDowell, Head of The Elite Golf Institute at Elmwood, have put together the following programme to take your players game to the next level and hopefully lead to a career in the game:

Dates - 14th April 2010 to 18th April 2010, 5 Days, 09.00 - 17.30 hrs Daily.

Introduction - Theoretical perspectives in the development of expertise. This programme will give a unique insight into what it takes to become an elite golf athlete. The ethos of the programme is not to coach a method but to fully explore and develop the natural talent that exists within.

Who is this for? An assessment if the High Performance Programme is for you can only be made once you have completed the 'years until achievement' questionnaire. For example the High Performance Team currently work with players who are within one year of attending the European Tour School, however we also work with players who have been assessed as being one, two and three years away from being of the standard required to win a junior national title. Only once you have completed the questionnaire we will be able to advise you if we believe we can help you achieve a realistic outcome in the game.

The Game Comes First is a simple concept that isolates the key determinants of performance at an elite level. Then through a serious of drills and games the determinants of performance are put under stress in a way that trains the participant beyond the needs of the activity. The resulting effect of training in this way has been shown to induce a Flow State, or peak experience, in the performer during competition.

Stage 1 - The Game
Stage 2 - Game Appreciation
Stage 3 - Tactical Awareness
Stage 4 - Making appropriate decisions
Stage 5 - Skill Execution
Stage 6 - Performance
Stage 7 - Self Evaluation and Goal Setting

This programme can best be characterised as scientific and methodical training based on the premise that Logging many hours of practice at low intensity is likely to allow the body to adapt to exactly that! - namely, improvement in one's ability to exert low levels of intensity for extended periods of time. As such the High Performance Training Camp will show aspirant elite performers how to induce adaptation in the psychological and physiological mechanisms that control performance at an elite level. In addition to this participants will understand the crucial performance enhancing principles of "The Game Comes First".

This School is available for Scottish Amateur Golfers at a discounted cost of £500.00 per person. If the dates do not suit and it is something that your county would like to consider running then please contact us for an alternate session.

It would be greatly appreciated if you would make your players aware of this opportunity.

Please E-mail for the Questionnaire and for further information.

Kind Regards

Alastair
