Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) failed in his bid for a place in the Open Championship when he competed at Glasgow gailes this week, in the Local Final Qualifying event.
A 9 over par total over the two rounds left Stewart well down the field, coming as it did after an intensive week of golf prior to the qualifying where he contributed greatly to Scotland's win in the European Amateur Team Championship in Wales.
Stewart will now look forward to the end of July when he bids for the Scottish Amateur Championship crown when the event is staged at Royal Troon.
