BOYS HOME INTERNATIONALS - England defeat Scotland on day two

England beat Scotland by 10 - 5 on day two of the 2008 Boys Home Internationals, being played at Royal County Down this week.

In the morning foursomes the Ayrshire pairing of Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) and Kyle Smith (Kilmarnock Barassie)managed a half match against Tommy Fleetwood and Tom Lewis, which proved to be the only comfort to Scotland as they lost the foursomes by 4.5 - 0.5.

In the afternoon singles, Stewart suffered a 4 & 3 defeat to Tommy Fleetwood in the leading tie whilst Smith had a 3 & 2 win over Eddie Pepperell as England took the sinles 5.5 - 4.5 wior a 10 - 5 victory overall.

England now meet Ireland on Thursday, with the winner destined to take the title after the host nation beat Wales by 10 - 5 on Wednesday.

Scotland and wales will meet on Thursday in a play off for the wooden spoon.
