BOYS HOME INTERNATIONALS - Scotland beaten by Ireland on opening day

Scotland, with Ayrshire represented by Kyle Smith (Kilmarnock Barassie) & Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck), lost to host nation Ireland on the first day of the Boys Home Internationals at Royal County Down.

The Irish team overturned a morning deficit from the foursomes to win by 8.5-6.5.

Michael Stewart combined to gain a point in the morning foursomes and Stewart maintained his record by winning his afternoon singles by 1 hole. Smith was not so fortunate in the afternoon, losing his sinnges match heavily.
