A year ago today Ayrshire and the wider golfing community
mourned the sudden death of the 2014 Ayrshire Champion Of Champions title
holder Gary Bryden, at the all too young age of 44.
It does not seem a full year since the County and the wider
golfing community came together with Gary’s family and friends in Girvan to
mourn one of Ayrshire’s finest exponents of the game, an integral member of
the county team, and one of the most sporting of golfers you could ever hope to
meet..
Gary would no doubt have taken great pride and delight in
the success of the Ayrshire team during 2015, and his colleagues in the
Ayrshire County squad did him proud during the year, when their departed team
mate was seldom far from their thoughts.
In tribute to Gary, County President James McMurdo dedicated
the team’s success in the Scottish Area team Championship to him, on the day
the title was secured at Blaigowrie.
We hope that golfers in Ayrshire and beyond will join the Executive Members and players from The Ayrshire Golf Association and take a
moment to remember Gary on the first anniversary of his untimely passing.
