LADIES GOLF - Audrey Thomson wins national championship

On the day that Tommy McInally took the Ayrshire Champion Of Champions Trophy back to Loudoun Gowf Club, there was cause for double celebration at the club on Friday when 4 handicapper Audrey Thompson won the Barnardo's Scottish Grand Final at Arbroath Golf Club.
With 31 Stableford points on a very windy day, Audrey tied with Penny Maxwell (Strathmore), who plays off 33, and 18 handicapper Fay Rosenburg (Braehead) at the head of the 43 strong field of qualifiers, who won through to the finals via club qualifying competitions held throughout Scotland.

Audrey was declared the winner by virtue of the best inward half, ahead of the other two players.
