HOME INTERNATIONALS - Two wins, but Stewart can't stop Scotland defeat

New Scottish Champion Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) recorded two wins from his two ties on Wednesday in the opening day match against Wales at the 2010 Home Internationals, being held this week at Ashburnham Golf Club, but this did not prevent his side going down by 8 - 7 in the match.

Stewart teamed up with Ross Kellett in the morning foursomes to record a 3 & 1 win over Rhys Enoch and Nigel Edwards as Scotland took a 3 - 2 lead into the singles in the afternoon.

Despite Stewart winning his singles match by 2 & 1 against Alastair Jones, Scotland slumped to a 6 - 4 defeat in the singles for an overall match score of Wales 8 Scotland 7.

In the other match played on Wednesday, Encland crushed ireland by 11 - 4.

Scotland take on England on Thursday whilst Wales and ireland meet in it the other match.
