AYRSHIRE MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - semi final line up

The quarter finals of the 2010 Ayrshire Matchplay Championship were played at Western Gailes on Tuesday night.

In the first match, Stephen Spence (Irvine) was two down against clubmate John Shanks with five holes to play but fought back to record a two hole victory and book a semi final spot for the second successive year.

In Wednesday night's semi final Spence will face the 2008 Matchplay winner Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle), who booked his place with a 2 & 1 win over Graeme Gimson (Prestwick St. Cuthbert).

In the other half of the draw, Euan Brown (Kilmarnock Barassie) overwhelmed Marc Smith (Troon Welbeck) by 6 & 5 in the quarter finals and will face a semi final match against Gordon Boyle (Ayr Dalmilling) who edged through in a very close quarter final match against Scott Gilchrist (Loudoun) at the first extra hole.

The semi finals will be played on Wednesday night with the final on Thursday, also at Western Gailes.

Euan Brown (Kilmarnock Barassie) beat Marc Smith (Troon Welbeck) by 6&5

Scott Gilchrist (Loudoun) lost to Gordon Boyle (Ayr Dalmilling) at the 19th.
