AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GO0LF LEAGUE - early season results

The competition for the various Ayrshire Junior Golf League trophies have begun, with a number of early season results having been posted.


In the LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP, Troon Welbck opened with a 4 - 2 home win over Ardeer in Section A.



Largs Routenburn got off to a winning start in Section B with a 3.5 - 2.5 away win at Annanhill.



Ballochmyle began section C with a 3.5 - 2.5 home win over Ayr Belleisle whilst no matches have been played so far in Section D.


In the JUNIOR CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY competition, Ayrshire Boys Champion Scott Brown is through to the first round after a one hole preliminary rond win over his host, Gary Patterson, at Ballochmyle.

Craig Goodwin (Loudoun) also progressed from the preliminary round after Largs Routenburn failed to nominate a representative.

With the loss of Troon St. Meddans from League Competitions this year, Ross Black (Ardeer) received a bye into the quarter finals of the competition.

In the UNDER 16 KNOCKOUT TROPHY competition, Largs beat Kilbirnie 3.5 - 0.5 at home in the preliminary round match and now entertain Irvine Ravenspark in round 1.

Caprington, 2.5 - 1.5 home winners over Ayr Belleisle, and Kilmarnock Barassie, 4 - 0 home winners over Loudoun, are both through to the quarter finals.

Also through to the last eight are Prestwick St. Cuthbert who recorded a 3 - 1 win away from home against near neighbours Prestwick St. Nicholas.

Fixtures in the WALLACE THORNTON TROPHY competition have been finalised but no matches have been played so far.
