AYRSHIRE SUMMER LEAGUE - Record entry of 28 teams to contest new format

A record entry of 28 clubs will contest the Ayrshire (Scratch) Summer League in 2011, as the competition moves to a new format.

Unlike the all in draw of previous years, with section winners qualifying for knockout stages at the end of the season, the decision was taken, after consultation with competing clubs, to move to a orthodox league set up in 2011, with promotion and relegation between leagues.

Using a formula based on performance of competing teams over the last three seasons, the entrants were allocated their starting leagues for the innaugural season under the new format.

League five will comprise the new clubs who have not competed in the last three seasons, with the exception of Prestwick St Nicholas who were drawn by lot to start in League four.
