US COLLEGE GOLF - Linzi Allan keeps up good form at Oklahoma City

Linzi Allan From Dalry, Ayrshire, a sophomore student at Newman University, Wichita, Kansas, taking part in the Mahogany UCO Classic, was the overnight leader with a first-round score of 71 over the par 70 (6120yd) course at Lincoln Park East Golf Club, Oklahoma City.

She added a second round score of 76 for a total score of 147 to finish tied for eighth in a field of 93 players, only four shots behind the overall winner, Wallis Spears (St Edward University+.

Linzi’s team-mates, Megan Birdsey from Bedfordshire and Alyssia Balding from Northumberland, had aggregates of 154 and 157 respectfully.

Newman university finished seventh with a new school record of 615 in a field of 17 teams. The competition was won by Central Oklahoma

Coach Don Farquhar said he is proud of his team and is looking forward to the rest of the season even though the girls had been teasing him about the European Victory in the Ryder Cup.
