AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Results update

Matches are well under way in the Ayrshire Junior Golf league competitions this season.

In the LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP, Troon Welbeck's 4 - 2 win over Ardeer is the only match completed in Section A so far.

In Section B, Annanhill, largs Routenburn and Irvine Ravenspark have all played two matches each so far, winning one and losing one. Annanhill beat ravenspark 4 - 2 at home but suffered a 2.5 - 3.5 defeat in another home match against Routenburn. ravenspark opened their home matches with a 3.5 - 2.5 win over Routenburn. Prestwick St. Nicholas have still to open their campaign for the season.

In Section C, Ballochmyle followed their opening 3.5 - 2.5 home win over Belleisle with a 6 - 0 win against their visitors Irvine Bogside. In the other match played in the section so far, West Kilbride won by 5.5 - 0.5 in their trip to Bogside.

In Section D, Prestwick St. Cuthbert started well in the opening match with a 3.5 - 2.5 win over their visitors, Kilbirnie Place.

In the CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY competition, four of the eight scheduled second round matches were not played for various reasons, with four of the players involved being awarded walkovers. through to the quarter finals are david Mclellan (Largs), Scott Brown (Ayrshire Boys Champion), Jake Higgins (Prestwick St. Nicholas) and Ross Black (Ardeer).

In the one match played so far in the round, Adam Foley (Ayr Belleisle) had a one hole victory over his visitor Craig Telfer (Prestwick St. Cuthbert).

The results of the ties between Chris Butler (Ravenspark) & Andrew Wright (Barassie), Ross Arthur (Caprington) & Steven Murray (Bogside) and Gary Morrison (Annanhill) & Callum Crowe (Kilbirnie) are still awaited.

In the UNDER 16 KNOCKOUT TROPHY competition, all the second round ties have been completed.

Of the five outstanding results, Largs Routenburn received a walkover after the withdrawal of Troon St. Meddans whilst Ballochmyle and Troon Welbeck progressed courtesy of 3.5 - 0.5 home wins over Annanhill and West Kilbride respectively.

Ardeer travelled to neighbours irvine Bogside and returned with a 3 - 1 victory whilst irvine ravenspark edged through on their visit to largs, winning at the first extra hole after a 2 - 2 draw and a tie on the countback.
