CSOTTISH GOLF UNION - Stewart and Smith called up to national teams

Ayrshire have double cause for celebration as the Scottish teams for the forthcoming European Team Championships at full international and boys level have been announced.

Scottish Boys Champion Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) (pictured right) has been rewarded for his early season successes with a first cap at full international level at the European Mens Team Championship to be held at Torino, Italy from 1st to 5th July 2008.

The full Scotland team for the championship is :-

Wallace Booth (Comrie)
Keir McNicoll (Carnoustie)
Callum Macaulay (Tulliallan)
Paul O'Hara (Colville Park)
Gavin Dear (Murrayshall)
Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck)

The week after his his full international debut, Stewart will line up alongside former Ayrshire Boys Matchplay Champion Kyle Smith (Kilmarnock Barassie) ,who has been called up along with Stewart for the European Boys Team Championship to be held at Bled in Slovenia from 8th to 12th July.

Smith (pictured right), a former Under 16 Scotland cap has shown a fine return to form over the last few months, culminating in his selection for the national under 18 team.
