AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - First round matches completed whilst Pennycott is given bye to quarter finals

The 2008 Ayrshire Junior Champion Of Champions competition is under way, with the three preliminary round matches having been completed.

Douglas Robertson (Annanhill) had a one hole home win in his local derby against Marc Smith (Caprington) to set up a first round tie at home to Jamie Achison (Largs Routenburn).

Alistair McIntyre (Ardeer) booked a first round match away to Martin Ronald (Irvine Ravenspark), courtest of a 4 & 3 home win over Cieran Byrne (New Cumnock) in the preliminary round, whilst Kieran Howie (West Kilbride) crushed Calvin Ross (Troon St. Meddans) by 7 & 6 in his preliminary match, and now plays host to Sean Thornton (Ayr Belleisle) in round 1.

The anticipated first round tie between The Ayrshire Matchplay Champion Malcolm Pennycott (Whiting Bay) - pictured right, with trophy - and the Strokeplay Champion, and current holder of the Champion Of Champions Trophy, Euan Brown (Kilmarnock Barassie) did not materialise, Euan Brown having to withdraw from the event due to other commitments, leaving Malcolm Pennycott with a bye into the quarter finals.
