The final of the scratch competition for the WALLACE THORNTON TROPHY feature Kilmarnock Barassie and Irvine golf clubs and it proved to be a very exciting final, ending in a 2 - 2 draw before progressing to a sudden death play off to decide the destination of the trophy.
The final match details were (Kilmarnock Barassie names first) :-
Callum Gorrie beat Stuart Easton by 3 & 2
Stewart Russell beat Ross McDonald by 6 & 5
Sean Cook lost to Stuart Fairgrieve by 2 holes
Euan Henderson lost to Jack Thomas by 2 holes

In the subsequent play off, Irvine nominated Stuart Easton and Kilmarnock Barassie nominated Callum Gorrie do represent their respective clubs.
At the first play off hole, Stuart Easton drove into the trees on the left but managed to find a path back to the fairway in two, whilst Callum Gorrie found the fairway from the tee but put his second shot with a fairway wood into the greenside bunker on the left of the par five opening hole at Belleisle.
Stuart Easton hit a good recovery rescue wood onto the green although he was still a long way from the hole, and Callum Gorrie followed this with a fine bunker shot to around 10 feet from the hole.
Stuart Easton's effort for a birdie four from distance was unsuccessful leaving Callum Gorrie with a 10 foot put for a winning birdie four. The Kilmarnock Barassie player successfully converted his putt to give his team the Wallace Thornton Trophy for 2013 at the first extra hole.
The other final played on Sunday 6th October was the UNDER 16 KNOCKOUT TROPHY which featured teams from Ayr Belleisle and Loudoun.

Loudoun took two of the ties comfortably with the other two being decided on the final green. The Ayr Belleisle side were only able to win one of these ties and lose the other, giving Loudoun the Under 16 title for 2013 with a 3 - 1 win in the match.

R Meikle lost to Elliot Spence by 4 & 3

At the conclusion of the finals, the trophies were passed into the custody of the winning teams by AJGL Chairman Bob Cameron (Ayr Belleisle)
