AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Irvine still lead the chase for final place against Kilmarnock Barassie

Qualification for the final from Section A in the 2025 Ayrshire Junior Golf League Championship is still up for grabs as matches continue towards a conclusion by the end of July.

Irvine stail retain the lead in the table after a recent 3-3 home draw with Turnberry, who kept the pressure on the leaders with a 4-2 away win over East Ayrshire at Annanhill recently.

Prestwick St Nicholas have only played two ties so far and can still influence the eventual qualification for the final from the section, with three home matches and three away still to play.

Prestwick St Nicholas have still to host East Ayrshire, Turnberry, and Troon Welbeck, and are still to visit East Ayrshire, Irvine and Troon Welbeck in the remaining fixtures, while Irvine and Turnberry have still to meet at Turnberry.

GARY BRYDEN MEMORIAL SALVER - Turnberry and Kilbirnie book places in quarter finals

The quarter final line up in the 2025 scratch club team knockout competition for The Gary Bryden Memorial Salver was completed this week when Turnberry and Kilbirnie Place secured the last two places.

Both clubs had 2-1 home wins, Over Ballochmyle and Rowallan Castle respectively, and now meet each other in the last eight at Turnberry.

AYRSHIRE MEN'S FOURBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - Quarter final line up confirmed

The quarter final line up for the 2025 Ayrshire men's Fourball Championship has been confirmed with all the third round ties being completed recently.

The four quarter final ties are due to be completed by the 27th of July, with the final scheduled to take place on the 31st of August at Troon Porland Golf Course during Finals Day.

AYRSHIRE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP - Fourteen clubs line up for R.L. Crawford Trophy at Ayr Belleisle

Fourteen member clubs will contest the 2025 Ayrshire Club Championship competition for the R.L. Crawford Trophy at Ayr Belleisle Golf Course on Sunday the 6th of July.

Caprington defend the title that they won over their home course in 2024.

Teams of 3 players represent each club with the best two scratch scores from three being combined for the team score, with the third score being taken into account in the event of a tie.

The championship winners will also be invited to represent Ayrshire in the 2026 West of Scotland Club Championship competition which is hed in conjunction with the annual West of Scotland Men's Strokeplay Championship.

The draw for order of play on Sunday the 6th of July at Ayr Belleisle is:- 







AYRSHIRE MEN'S CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY - Quarter final line up confirmed

The quarter final line up for the 2025 Ayrshire Men's Champion of Champions Trophy competition has been confirmed with all remaining quarter final ties being completed recently.

Andrew J. Gibson (Caprington) had a 5&4 home win over Ally Berry (Irvine Ravenspark) in their third round encounter and now hosts John R. Anderson (Skelmorlie) in the quarter finals.

Patrick Smiley (Prestwick St Nicholas) had a single hole victory over his host Brian Murray (Redburn) in their third round tie, and will host Gavin Chesney, the 2024 Ayrshire Strokeplay Champion, in the quarter finals.

In the other two third round ties completed in recent days, Gary Jordan (Portmann) had a single hole victory over his host Scott Chesney (Kilbirnie Place), and in the quarter finals will host Stephen Murray (Troon Portland) who secured his place in the last eight with a 2&1 home win over Steven Clark (Tam O Shanter).

All the quarter final ties are due to be completed by the 27th of July.

GARY BRYDEN MEMORIAL SALVER - Royal Troon and Caprington book quarter final places.

Royal Troon and Caprington are the latest two clubs to book their places in the quarter finals of the 2025 scratch club team knockout competition for The Gary Bryden Memorial Salver.

Royal Troon negotiated a tricky away tie at Skelmorlie in round two, a foursomes win and a win and a defeat in the singles giving them a 2-1 match result to progress to a quarter final visit to Prestwick St Cuthbert.

Caprington were at home to Girvan in their second round tie and after securing two wins, the orther tie was agreed as a half, leaving a match score of 2.5-0.5 in favour of caprington, who now host Troon Welbeck in the last eight.

With all second round ties due to be completed by Sunday the 29th of June, the results of the fixtures between Turnberry Vs Ballochmyle and Kilbirnie Place vs Rowallan Castle are awaited before the quarter final line up is confirmed. 

PRESIDENT'S PUTTER - Three more clubs through to quarter finals.

With all third round matches due to be completed by Sunday the 29th of June, three more clubs have booked their places in the quarter finals of the handicap club team knockout competition for The President's Putter recently.

Wallacetown had a 3-0 home win over Ayr Belleisle to secure a visit to either Kilbirnie or tam O Shanter in the last eight.

A 2-1 away win over Irvine in round three saw Skelmorlie through to a quarter final tie away to Troon St Meddans while a 3-0 home win by Alton over Ballochmyle gave Alton a home quarter final tie against West Kilbride.

The three outstanding results, from Kilbirnie Vs Tam O Shanter, Irvine Ravenspark Vs Troon Welbeck, and The Chase Vs Kilmarnock Barassie, are awaited before the quarter final line up is confirmed.

DOC THOM AYRSHIRE ORDER OF MERIT - Scott Brown moves up to third after Gowf Cup victory

Scott Brown (Prestwick St Cuthbert) moved up to third in the Ayrshire Men's Order of Merit for the Doc Thom Salver following his recent victory in the 2025 Gowf Cup competition at Loudoun Gowf Club.

His 134 two round total gave him the trophy by a shot ahead of Calum Nairn (Prestwick St Cuthbert) with Ayrshire Men's Matchplay Champion John Haggarty (Loudoun) a shot further back on 136.

THe next two counting events are the Troon Welbeck Open on Saturday the 28th of June and The Hillhouse Cup at Royal Troon the following day.

John Shanks (Irvine still leads the chase for the Doc Thom Salver, ahead of John Haggarty and Scott brown.

With exactly half of the 24 counting events now completed, present positions in the Ayrshire Men's Order of Merit are:-  




AYRSHIRE MEN'S HANDICAP LEAGUE - Qualifying sections near conclusion as Ayr Seafield book quarter final place.

The eight qualifying sections in the 2025 Ayrshire Men’s Handicap League Championship competition are rapidly heading towards a conclusion, with remaining matches due to be completed by the 13th of July.

In LEAGUE 1, Caprington drew 3-3 at home to Royal Troon and lost 4-2 away to Tam O Shanter in their last two fixtures, which dented their qualification hopes. Largs presently lead Portmann on tie difference at the top of the table with seven fixture results still to be completed or confirmed.

The remaining fixtures in the section are

Caprington Vs Tam O Shanter, Caprington Vs Portmann, Royal Troon Vs Largs, Royal Troon Vs Tam O Shanter, Tam O Shanter Vs Royal Troon, Portmann Vs Largs and Portmann Vs Tam O Shanter.

Kilbirnie Place lead at present with just three fixtures to be completed.

In LEAGUE 8, Irvine Ravenspark are clear at the top of the table after completing their fixtures with a 4.5-1.5 home win over Loudoun, though Moorpark maintained their hopes with a 5-1 home win over Irvine Ravenspark.

With three fixtures remaining to be completed, both Moorpark and Loudoun can still edge out Irvine Ravenspark.

Moorpark still have a home fixture against Prestwick St Cuthbert, with the crucial fixtures between Loudoun and Moorpark, both home and away, likely to be crucial in deciding who qualifies for the quarter finals.
