AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - Irvine lead in Division 1

Irvine lead the way in the Ayrshire Scratch League Division 1 as matches continue through the summer months.

A 5-1 home win over defending champions Prestwick St Cuthbert, who suffered their first defeat in ten matches, along with a 4.5-1.5 away win at Turnberry moved Irvine clear at the toip of the table.

The Turnberry match was notable for one of the Irvine junior members, Mason Chisholm, who marked his promotion to the club scratch team with a hole in one at the sixteenth hole of the King Robert the Bruce course and chipping in for an eagle three at the final hole of his tie to earn a half point for his team.

Prestwick St Cuthbert bounced back in their latest fixture with a 4-2 away win at Kilmarnock Barassie to move into joint second spot with Ayr Belleisle.

2023 league champions Royal Troon had mixed fortunes in their latest two fixtures, losing 3.5 – 2.5 away to Kilmarnock Barassie but winning at home to Turnberry by 5 – 1.
