LOMOND PROPERTY AYRSHIRE MEN'S MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - First round ties completed at Ballochmyle

The first round matches in the 2025 Ayrshire Men's Matchplay Championship, sponsored by Lomond property, took place at Ballochmyle Golf Club on Monday the 5th of May.

Newly crowned Ayrshire Men's Strokeplay Champion, and defending Matchplay Champion Harvey Broadfoot (Royal Troon) had a 5&4 win over Euan Forrest (Turnberry) and will face Scott Brown (Prestwick St Cuthbert) in the quarter finals after Brown recorded a 4&2 victory over Steven McCreadie Jr. (Ayr Bellesile) in the opening round.

Adam Sweeney (Prestwick St Cuthbert) overcame Louis Alberts (Troon St Meddans) by 3&2 and in the last eight will be up against Alan McLean (Largs) who beat his clubmate Euan Lindsay by 3&2 to progress.

John Haggarty (Loudoun) was a 5&4 winner against Elliot Masterson (Ayr Belleisle) and will be up against Joe McSorley (Prestwick St Cuthbert) in the quarter finals following McSorley's 3&2 win over his clubmate Steven Wallace on monday evening.

John Shanks (Irvine) went to the first extra hole in his opening tie against 2023 Strokeplay champion Colin Goudie (Ayr Belleisle) before winning through to the quarter finals where he will face Graeme Gimson (Prestwick St Cuthbert) after Gimson overcame clubmate David Robertson by 5&4 in the opening round.

The second round matches are due to take place at Ballochmyle on the evening of Tuesday the 6th of May   with the semi finals following on the Wednesday and the final on Thursday the 8th.
