AYRSHIRE FOURBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - First round results

With the first round ties due to be completed this weekend, a number of results from the 2011 Ayrshire Fourball Championship have already been received.

Defending champions Scott McCahill & David Wallace - pictured below) of Maybole had an epic match away to John Young & George Mills of New Cumnock where they eventually booked their place in the second round with a win at the 26th (8th extra) hole.

In round 2 the Maybole pair face another away tie, this time against Billy Pollock & Sandy Riddell of Skelmorlie, who progressed to the second round with a 6 & 5 home win over Ricky tait & Allan Smeeton of The Chase.

Craig Gilmour & Alex Watson of Kilmarnock Barassie beat Kevin McGhee and Callum Weir at Muirkirk and now face a trip to play the winner of the tie between James Graham & Marc Wallace (Doon Valley) and Derek Brown & David Low (Ayr Belleisle).

Kevin McCormack & Robert Payne of Ardeer have a home match in round 2 against either David Muir & Craig Young (Loudoun) or Alex Cairns and Michael Hedberg (Largs Routenburn) after a home win in round 1 at the 21st hole against Philip Pierotti & David Hannah of Drongan.

Frank Fulton & Stevie Corrigan of Ayr Dalmilling won at the 19th at Girvan against Alan Gaff & Alan Copeland in their first round tie and the Dalmilling pair now face an away tie in round 2 against the winner of the tie between Davy Taylor & Grant Wilson (Ayr Seafield) and John Bechett & Graham Armstrong (Moorpark).

Frank Henderson & Walter Meiklam of Troon Welbeck booked their place in the second round with a 7 & 6 win over Patrick Clark & James Paterson (Braehead) and will have a home match against either Steven Tait & Scott McCabe (Crosshouse) or Iain MacDonald & David MacDonald (Largs) in round 2.
