League Champions Kilmarnock (Barassie) with League Chairman John Stobie |
The Kilmarnock (Barassie) team last won the League Championship in 2010, when the final was coincidentally played at Prestwick St Nicholas and their final opponents on that occasion were also Ayr Belleisle.
The Barassie side got off to the best possible start with Lewis Caddell and Fraser Rigby winning the opening two ties.
Andrew Gordon revived Belleisle hopes with a win in the third tie but a 2 & 1 win by Robbie Muir put Kilmarnock Barassie on the bring of the title, Ayr Belleisle needing to win both the remaining ties for a draw and any hope of the title.
In the event, the remaining two ties on the course were halved, giving Kilmarnock (Barassie) the 2014 Ayrshire Junior Golf League Championship with a 4 - 2 win in the match.
