Ayrshire has lost one of its member clubs with the decision by North Gailes not to renew membership of the SGU and Ayrshire Golf Association this year.
The withdrawal of the North Gailes club brings the number of member clubs down to 64 in the county, though pleasingly the number of playing members in total throughout the member clubs has increased slightly this year, which is contrast to the decline in membership overall throughout Scotland.
The North Gailes club, members of The Association since shortly after the complex was established, is part of the ongoing review established by the new owners following their recent purchase of the facility, and it is hoped that the club may return to membership of the area and national bodies in the future.
