AYRSHIRE BOYS MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - Welbeck vs Barassie in both semi finals

Both semi finals of the 2011 Ayrshire Boys Matchplay Championship will feature a Troon Welbeck Vs Kilmarnock (Barassie) clash, after the first round matches were completed at Prestwick Golf Club on Tuesday night.

In the first semi final, scheduled to be played on Wednesday evening at Prestwick GC, the new Ayrshire Boys Champion Callum Beveridge (Troon Welbeck) will play Callum Gorrie (Kilmarnock Barassie).

Beveridge claimed his place in the last four with a 5 & 3 win over Chris Hobson (Irvine) whilst Gorrie overcame John Montgomery (West Kilbride) by 4 & 2.

The second semi final will feature the holder David Wilson (Troon Welbeck) and Blair Gavin (Kilmarnock Barassie).

Wilson, bidding for a third successive title, beat Greg Vernon (Annanhill) by 3 & 2 whilst Gavin booked his first semi final appearance by beating Stuart Easton (Irvine) by 3 & 2.

The semi finals are due to tee off at Prestwick GC on Wednesday evening at 4.30 p.m.
