Reigning champions Maybole lost their grip on the Ayrshire Fourball title in the second round of the 2011 competition recently.After their marathon first round match in the competition this year, where they won through at the 8th extra hole, the 2010 winning pair of David Wallace & Scott McCahill were beated 4 & 3 away from home in their second round match against Billy Pollock & Sandy Riddell (Skelmorlie).
In Round 3, the Skelmorlie pairing have been rewarded with a home tie against James Graham & Marc Wallace (Doon Valley), who followed their impressive 7 & 6 first round win with an 8 & 7 win at home to Craig Gilmour & Alex Watson (Kilmarnock Barassie) in round 2.
In the other second round result notified recently, George Ross & Kevin Coupland (Malletsheugh) had a 6 & 5 win on their visit to Mark Anderson & Ian Hogg (Irvine), to set up a home match in the third round against Barry O'Rourke & Robert Nairn (Kilbirnie Place).
The remaining second round ties, which should have been completed by 12th June, and for which results are awaited are :-

Ayr Seafield Vs Ayr Dalmilling
Troon Welbeck Vs. Largs
North Beach Vs. Troon St Meddans
