John Sloan (Doon Valley) won the 2009 Belleisle Cup on Sunday 31st May by virtue of the better inward half of the afternoon round, edging out Keith Hamilton of the host club.
The 36 hole event, sponsored by Slater Hogg & Howison Estate Agents, is a Doc Thom Ayrshire Order Of Merit counting event and attracted a capacity and quality field from throughout the West Of Scotland.
Sloan led the way with a three under par 68 in the morning which left him tied with Hamilton, who was bidding for a second successive Order Of Merit coutning event win after victory in the Hillhouse Cup at Royal Troon the previous week.
Sloan and Hamilton's 68's were matched in the afternoon by former Ayrshire Matchplay champion Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) and Scottish Order Of merit title holder Steven McEwan (Caprington), but the leading duo carded one under par 70's in the afternoon to remain tied on 138, one ahead of Hamilton and three clear of Mcewan.
With identical scores over the two rounds it went to the best inward half of the afternoon round to determine the winner, and it was Sloan who emerged victorious.
