The Ayrshire youths team made a flying start to the 2011 West Of Scotland Inter County League on Sunday 18th September with an emphatic 8.5 - 1.5 win over Renfrewshire at Brunston Castle.
The ties were close over the opening nine holes with Ayrshire just holding a slim advantage over their visitors.
First winner for Ayrshire was Scottish Bosy Champion David wilson who converted a one hole lead at the turn into a 5 & 4 victory.
Making his debut in the youths squad, Euasn McKinnon added to Ayrshire's total with a 4 & 3 win which was soon added to by Jack McDonald and Callum Beveridge who both closed out there respective ties by 2 & 1.
Greg Vernon was always in control of his tie which he won by 4 & 2 to give Ayrshire five points. The lead was soon added to with Andrew Wright winning by one hole in his tie.
Rengrewshire recorded their first and only full point on the board when Scott Johnston was edged out by the narrowest of margins on the final green.
Also playing their first youths match for the county, Stephen Hill and Daniel Forbes both recorded 2 & 1 victories before the match concluded with Craig Telfer adding a further half point to Ayrshire's total in his tie.

In the corresponding A Team match at Erskine, Ayrshire were narrowly edged out 6 - 4 by the Renfrewshire team who took the final two matches on the course by a single hole to seal victory.
