Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) is the 2008 Scottish Boys Champion after a commanding 8 & 7 win in the 36 hole final at Southerness on Saturday.One up after 15 against Paul Shields (Kirkhill) in the morning round, Stewart finished impressively over the closing holes winning the last three, including the 18th courtesy of a second successive eagle this week, to take a four hole lead into the afternoon.
Stewart stamped his authority on the match at the opening hole of the afternoon where a birdie at the first put him further in front with a lead which was extended to 6 holes when Stewart also took the second with a par.
Despite Shields recording two successive birdies in the middle of the second round, they were only sufficient for halved holes and Stewart stormed to a 7 & 5 overall win.
Stewart now joins a select band of 7 Ayrshire players who have won the premier boys golf tournament in Scotland who are :-
