SCOTTISH SENIOR MEN'S AREA TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - Win for Renfrewshire at Gailes Links as Ayrshire finish fifth in title defence

The Ayrshire team finished fifth behind winners Renfrewshire in their bid to defend the Scottish Senior Men's Area Team Championship title at Glasgow Gailes Links on Tuesday the 12th of August.

With five scores from six counting, the Ayrshire team of Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) 69, Robert Jenkins (Royal Troon) 72,  George Robertson (Irvine) 72, Stuart Miller (Kilmarnock Barassie) 77, Andrew Marshall (Prestwick St Nicholas) 80, and John Rushbury (Royal Troon) 80 returned a team total of 370 to finish in 5th place, eleven shots adrift of the winner from Renfrewshire who pipped Lothians for the title after the teams tied on 359, by virtue of the better sixth score.
