DOC THOM AYRSHIRE ORDER OF MERIT - John Shanks extends lead with just six events remaining

John Shanks (Irvine) has extended his lead in the 2025 Ayrshire Men's order of merit, for the Doc Thom Salver, following the completion of several counting events recently, leaving him in a good position with just six counting events left to be played.

A joint second place finish in the Stevenson Trophy at Girvan in late July and a third place finish in the Troon St Meddans open was followed the next day bty maximum points in the 36 hole Viking Krus competition at Largs to move Shanks clear of the chasing pack at the top of the table.

Harvey broadfoot (Royal Troon) remained in touch in second place with maximum points in the Troon St Meddans open and a 5th place finish in the Viking Krus, while Scott Brown (Prestwick St Cuthbert) retained third place with points for a joint sixth placing in the Viking Krus.

The next two counting events are the Rowallan Castle Open and the Mainholm Cup at Ayr Dalmilling, and with just six counting events remaining to be completed, present positions in the Doc Thom Ayrshire Men's Order of Merit are:-
