AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - Top two divisions nearing completion

The top two divisions in the Ayrshire Scratch leagues are close to completion, with recent results ensuring that the title races in each division will be a close run thing.

In DIVISION 1 a 4-2 home defeat to Largs and a 3-3 draw at Turnberry ended Ayr Belleisle’s championship hopes, while Prestwick St Cuthbert were unable to close out the championship in their final match of the campaign, going down by 4-2 away to Royal Troon, who also suffered defeat recently on their visit to Turnberry, losing out by 3.5-2.5

Largs need to win their remaining two fixtures, at home to Irvine and away to Royal Troon by a substantial score to match Prestwick St Cuthbert’s points total and challenge for the title on tie difference.

With just the two fixtures remaining, present positions in Division 1 are:-

In DIVISION 2 Caprington and West Kilbride had 6-0 home wins over Irvine Ravenspark and Prestwick St Nicholas respectively recently. West Kilbride also recorded a 4-2 away win over Ballochmyle and severely hampered Loudoun’s title hopes with a 3.5-2.5 home win over their visitors. Prestwick St Nicholas also recorded a home win by the same score over Ballochmyle to remain in third place in the table.

With just two fixtures remaining to be completed, Caprington just need to avoid defeat in their final fixture at Prestwick St Nicholas to take the Division 2 title, while West Kilbride will travel to Irvine Ravenspark looking for a win to possibly move into third spot in the table.

Unlike the other two divisions, DIVISION 3 has many results still outstanding, with fifteen results still to be received or confirmed.

A concession to Girvan by Redburn recently has still to be confirmed and if so then it would count as Redburn’s second defaulted match of the campaign, rendering all previous results null and void.

With this result and the fourteen other outstanding results still to be added, present positions in Division 3 are:-
