John Broadfoot (Turnberry) produced the first surprise of the Scottish Seniors Matchplay event at Newmacher on Wednesday when he ousted third seed Iain Stewart (Curragh) in the first round of matchplay.
Broadfoot, who qualified 30th of the 32 qualifiers won by two holes.
Keith Howie (West Kilbride) bowed out after a 5 & 4 defeat by Gordon McDonald (Callander), whilst David Miller (Kilmarnock Barassie) also secured a second round place alongside Broadfoot when he was awarded a walkover by his opponent Keith Hay (Westhill).
The matchplay rounds continue on Thursday and Friday.
