Scotland's bid for the Raymond Trophy at the Home Internationals got off to a bad start at Hillside G.C. on Wednesday with a 9.5 - 5.5 defeat at the hands of the host nation, England.
The foursomes were shared 2.5 - 2.5 with Ayrshire's Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) combining with Wallace Booth to beat Sam Hutsby & Chris Paisley by 5 & 4.
In the singles, Stewart lost to Paisley by one hole whilst fellow Ayrshireman Steven McEwan (Caprington) beat Luke Goddard by the same margin.
