SCOTTISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Ayrshires hopes for the 2006 title end in last 16

Ayrshire hopes of a winner in the 2006 Scottish Amateur Championship ended on Thursday afternoon with Steven McEwan's exit in the last 16 of the event.

With only two representatives in the last 32, Ayrshire's hopes rested solely with McEwan, after Jamie Murchie (Lamlash) lost out on Thursday morning by 1 hole to Bobby Rushford (Grangemouth).

Steven McEwan (Kilmarnock Barassie) gained a place in the last 16 with a 7 & 6 win over Jamie Farmer (St. Andrews) on Thursday morning, but his hopes for the title ended in the afternoon with a 2 & 1 defeat by Callum Macaulay (Tulliallan).
