SCOTTISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Harkins wins through to round 2 whilst two exit

The final Ayrshire player still to begin his bid for the 2006 Scottish Amateur Championship at Nairn won through on Tuesday, whilst two Ayrshire players made their exit in the early second round matches.

Chris Harkins (Ayr Belleisle) reached rounsd 2 with a 2 hole win over Alan Carlyle (Monifieth) and now meets Gavin Dear (Murrayshall) in round two on Wednesday.

In the first batch of second round matches, completed on Tuesday, David Addison (Kilmarnock Barassie) bowed out with a one hole defeat by Stephen Clark (Haggs Castle) whilst Andrew Brown (West Kilbride) was soundly beated by defending champion Glenn Campbell (Blairgowrie) by 7 & 6.

The remaining second round matches, and all the third round ties will be completed on Wednesday.
