LOMOND PROPERTY AYRSHIRE MEN'S STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - Harvey Broadfoot storms to title at Troon Lochgreen.

Harvey Broadfoot (Royal Troon) stormed to victory in the 2025 Lomond Property sponsored Ayrshire Men's Strokeplay Championship at Troon Lochgreen golf course on Sunday the 27th of April, winning the county title for the first time by four shots from the rest of the field of 75 of the best golfers in Ayrshire.

Leading from the front, Harvey posted the best score of the morning  rounds with a four under par score of 70 which included a total of eight birdies, which gave him a single shot lead going into the second round from John Haggarty (Loudoun), Aidan Long (Ayr Belleisle), and Steven Wallace (Prestwick St Cuthbert).

In the afternoon Harvey bettered his morning effort by two shots, helped by a superb run of four threes at the last four holes in the afternoon, picking up five shots on the card with his par, eagle, birdie, eagle run of holes which ultimately gave him an overall total of 138, ten under par for the two rounds.

John Haggarty repeated his morning score of 71 in the afternoon for a six under par total of 142 and second place overall while John Shanks (Irvine) took third place on 145 after rounds of 73 and 73.

A pair of 73's for a two under par total of 146 secured fourth place for Louis Alberts (Troon St Meddans) with reigning Ayrshire Men's Champion of Champions title holder Aidan Long (Ayr Belleisle) takign the fifth place spot on 147 after adding a 76 afternoon score to his morning round of 71.

The final place in the prize list was destined for Alan McLean (Largs) whose level part total of 148, following rounds of 77 and 71, gave him the prize by virtue of the better second round from four other players on the same score. 

The championship sponsors Lomond Property kindly pledged to donate £2, for every birdie or better recorded on the day by the field of 75 players, to The Associations preferred charity Ayrshire Cancer Support and with 191 birdies or better in the morning and 165 in the afternoon, the total of 356 realised a very generous donation of £712 from the championship sponsors, which was augmented by over £185 in cash donations generously given by the competitors on the day of the competition. The Association are very grateful to the sponsors and players for their great support of the very worthy local charity aligned with The Association this year.

At the conclusion of the championship Ayrshire Golf Association President Andrew Gilligan presented the trophy and commemorative medal to the 2025 champion Harvey Broadfoot who, in winning the championship for the first time, completed the set of strokeplay and matchplay titles at both boys and men's levels, having won the men's matchplay in 2024 following on from his Boys' Strokeplay and Matchplay title wins in both 2021 and 2022.
