There was further Ayrshire interest in the matchplay stages with Australian Ben Ferguson, who has family in Ayrshire and is a member of Turnberry, qualified in joint 25th place on 145 (+4) after rounds of 73 & 72.

The matchplay commenced on Wednesday 20th June but Ferguson had an early exit, going down by two holes to Malcolm Mitchell of South Africa in his opening tie.

Stuart Easton fared better however, securing a place in the last 32 with a one hole victory over Will Heffernan of Australia.
