Ayrshire lost out to Dumbartonshire by 6 – 2 at Ardeer on Sunday 15th June in the second series of matches in the 2014
West Of Scotland Inter County Under 18 League, for the Wishart Trophy.

In the opening tie, Stuart Goodfellow (Hayston)
raced into an early lead over Ross McDonald (Irivne), holing from 25 feet for
birdie at the seventh to go four up, and McDonald never recovered, losing out
by 4 & 3 in the end.
The match score was levelled when Andrew Gordon
(Ayr Belleisle) won thre out of five holes from the thirteenth to beat Andrew
halfpenny (Dullatur) by 3 & 2.
Dumbartonshire edged ahead once more when Shey Donald
(Helensburgh) built on his three hole lead after seven over Elliot Spence
(Loudoun) to win his tie by 6 & 4.
The under 16 ties were shared 2 – 2 when Blair
Fleming (Troon Welbeck) beat Ryan Clelland (Helensburgh) by 4 & 2.
In the lead under 18 tie, Jordan Fraser (Ayr
Belleisle) holed a bunker shot for birdie at first then lost fopur of the next
five holes, three of them to birdies, against Cameron Black (Cardross), who
went on to beat Fraser by 4 & 3 and put Dumbartonshire in the lead again.
Sean Cook (Kilmarnock Barassie) was two or three
down through most of the match to James
Sutherland (Hayston) but reduced the deficit to one hole after fifteen, only to
see Sutherland take the next two holes for a 3 & 1 victory.
Stuart Boyd (Haston) was four behind after eight
holes against Luke Murdoch (Loudoun) and went five behind before staging a
remarkable comeback over the inward half, winning four successive holes from
the eleventh to the fourteenth to reduce the deficit to one, and finishing the
comeback by winning the last two holes for a one hole victory, which also gave
Dumbartonshire the match.
The final match on the course between Murray
McCrone (Troon Welbeck) and Aran Sinclair (Bearsden) was close throughout
before McCrone lost two late holes to give Sinclair a 2 & 1 win and
Dumbartonshire the match by 6 – 2.

In the other match played in the series on Sunday 15th
June, Lanarkshire recorded a 5 – 3 home win over Stirlingshire at Colville
park.
The remaining match in the second series of matches takers
place next Sunday, 22nd June, when Renfrewshire play host to Glasgow
at Caldwell.
Ayrshire's next match in the series is on 6th July when they play Glasgow at Bishopbriggs
