Callum Nicoll (Prestwick) set a new Cruden Bay professional course record with a round of 63, seven under par, in the VSA Tartan pro-am on Friday 21st September.
Nicoll won the event by five shots with a round which included an eagle 2 at the third and birdies at the second, sixth, eighth, 12th and 18th in halves of 31 and 32. Nicoll also negotiated the course without a bogey on his card.

IN: 4 3 3 5 4 3 3 4 3 - 32.
Nicoll beat the previous best of 64, set by Colin Brooks a number of years ago, by one shot. Brooks' score had been matched by Gordon Law (Uphall) in winning the Northern Open at Cruden Bay in 2003.
Runner up to Nicoll was Colin Gillies (Kingsfield) a distant runner-up, five shots behind on
68. Fraser Mann (Musselburgh) was third on 69.
Nicoll also led the BIS Salamis amateurs team, Kenny Bennett (4), Doug Shiel (18) and Keith Beattie (8), to victory in the team event with a net score of 13-under-par.
