SCOTTISH SENIORS OPEN - Drummond pipped by Rivero for seniors title

Ross Drummond from Prestwick came within a shot of winning his first European Seniors Tour title in the Charles Church Scottish Seniors Open at the Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club, Edinburgh on Sunday 30th September.

A closing 70, two under par, was sufficient to give former Ryder Cup star, Jose Rivero a 10 under partotal and the title, although his overnight lead was cut by Drummond from three to one shot.

Drummond moved to within one shot of the lead when he hit a 117 yard wedge shot into the hole for an eagle two on the par four 12th and two holes later he briefly tied with Rivero when the eventual winner made his only bogey of the day, on the 14th.

Unfortunately, Drummond dropped a shot of on the 423 yard par four 15th to give Rivero the lead once more, and despite an excellent birdie on the 449 yard closing hole, finished one short of the winning total of 206, after Rivero had birdied the par five 16th to go back to two in front.

This was Drummond's second runner-up finish of his rookie season on the Seniors Tour, his nine under par aggregate of 207 leaving him four shots ahead of third placed Englishmen, Bob Cameron and Nick Job.

Drummond's performance saw him move up one place, to eighth, in the Seniors Order Of Merit for 2007.
