17 year old twin brothers Rory and Jamie Acheson enjoyed a unique double success this year in the Largs Routenburn club championship competitions.
Rory - pictured right in the black shirt - beat former champion Alan Harrington in the gents championship in a hard fought match which ended in success for the youngster at the 37th hole.
A few days after his success, Rory faced his brother, and defending champion, Jamie - pictured right in the white top - in the junior championship.
After another fine display of golf from the finalists over the two rounds, Jamie successfully defended his junior title with a 4 & 2 win over Rory.
This is certainly a unique double for Largs Routenburn, to have twins winning the junior and senior championship in the same year, and it is probably a unique achievement not only at Routenburn, but in Ayrshire if not further afield.
If any readers are aware of a similar 'twin double' elsewhere, we would be glad to have details.
