New Cumnock have withdrawn from the 2017 Ayrshire Scratch league competition due to difficulties anticipated in fielding a team throughout the campaign.
Rather than begin their fixture and having to withdraw mid way through the season, the club rightly decided to withdraw before the fixtures began.
The withdrawal of New Cumnock leaves five teams chasing the Division 4 title this year.
In Division 4, Tam O Shanter got off to a winning start with a 4.5 - 1.5 home win over Moorpark in their first fixture of the season, played recently.
The only other result returned this week was in Division 1 where Wet Kilbride and Turnberry shared the spoils at the Seamill course in a 3 - 3 draw.

SCOTTISH SENIORS GOLF - Paul Moultrie shares Spring Meeting spoils at Monifieth
Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) and Aberdeen
businessman Nick Robson (Meldrum House)shared
top place with one-under-par 36 hole aggregates of 141 in the Scottish Seniors Golfing Society Sprint Meeting at Monifieth Links, sponsored
by McCrea Finacial Services, which finished on Friday 28th April.
(Report courtesy of the Cal Carson Golf Agency)
Robson, who
won the event 12 months ago, had to come from behind with an excellent
second-round 67 (34-33), which included five birdies, including the par-5 18th,
to tie with his +2 handicap rival from Ayrshire.
Moultrie, who had a 70 in the second round having led the field after day one.,
did well to recover from a double bogey 6 at the third and a bogey at the
fourth. He had four birdies, three of them in succession (12-13-14) in an
inward 32.
They headed
a field of 141 players, possibly the strongest field to play an SSGS event,
with 26 players having a handicap of scratch or better.
Thursday's
strong wind had died down to a gentle breeze and scoring conditions were a bit
easier. Play offs and better second rounds do not apply to SSGS events, and the
Order of Merit points and prize money are shared.
Maurice
Lindsay (Broughty), Stewart Henderson (Hamilton) and Mike Rust (Tillicoultry)
shared third place on 146.
The Bronze
Medal for best net score was won by five-handicap Keith McAllister (South
Shields) with a total of 141. Colin
Halcrow (Windyhill) (4) and Mike Hall (Stirling) (7) shared second place on
142.
Wilson
Morton (Dunbar) had a hole in one at the 14th (158yd) hole, using a seven-iron.
German golf
company JuCad have donated a top quality electric trolley to the Society as a
hole in one prize for the 2017 events.
In the event that further holes in one are scored this season, there
will be a draw after finals day.
