SCOTTISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP - McDonald surges up the field with third round 68

Jack McDonald (Kilmarnock Barassie) continued his superb performance in the Scottish Open Championship at Castle Stuart on Saturday with a superb four under par 68 in round three to leave him on 8 under par overall.

The 19 year old British Universities Champion opened with successive birdies at the first two holes and added a further birdie at the par five sixth. He dropped his only stroke to the card on the day with a bogey five at the seventh to be out in two under par, 34.

The inward nine opened with a par folllowed by a birdie two at the eleventh and McDonald secured pars at the next six holes before finishing in style with a birdie four at the final hole, the second successive day he has recorded an important birdie at the hole.

His third round 68, after his opening two rounds of 70 leaves McDonald on eight under par overall, and well placed in an experienced and impressive field.
