The first round matches in the 2010 Ayrshire Fourball Championship were completed on Sunday 18th April, with five clubs securing a place in round 2.
2009 finalists Scott McCahill & David Wallace (Maybole) edged through by one hole on the final green against their visitors Jack Torrens & Ronnie Mathieson (Beith) to set up a home tie in round 2 against Steven Dunn & John Brown (Ayr Seafield)
Also edging through by one hole on the last green were Billy Goodwin & Steven Armstrong (Ardeer) with an away win on their visit to Largs Routenburn. In round 2 Goodwin and Armstrong are at home to Craig & Scott Hillis (Irvine).
David Macpherson & Jim Hopkins (Troon Portland) beat their visitors Jim & Craig Nichol (New Cumnock) by 3 & 2 to secure a home tie in round 2 against David Gilmour & Robert Cruickshanks (Moorpark) whilst John Brodie & Alan Smeeton (Chase) enjoyed a similar margin of victory on their visit to play Tommy Thomson & Ian Rankine (Prestwick St. Cuthbert). Brodie & Smeeton are at home to Andrew Cunning & Robert Richard (Muirkirk) in round 2.
The final first round match resulted in victory for Scott & Jim Brown (Girvan) against their visitors Douglas Johnstone & John Mitchell (Ayr Belleisle) by 4 & 3, and the Girvan pair now face a home match in round 2 against Ian Plumbley & David Cunningham (West Kibride)
