Two of the four Ayrshire players competing in the 2009 Scottish Girls Championship at Lanark this week have qualified for the matchplay stages, after completing 36 holes strokeplay qualifying on Tuesday.
The West Kilbride duo of Mhari McKay (169) and Connie Jaffrey (170) finished 16 & 17 shots respectively behind leading qualifier Rachael Watton (Mortonhall) but both were well within the qualifying score of 174.
Katie McGarva (Troon Ladies) and Emma Hale (Troon Bentinck) failed to progress to the matchplay stages with two round totals of 181 and 188 respectively.
In the first round of the matchplay, on Wednesday morning, Connie Jaffrey plays the 9th qualifier Ailsa Summers (Carnoustie Ladies) whilst Mhari Mckay plays the 11th qualifier Sammy Vass (Tain).
