Caitlyn Bilham (Loudoun) is the 2024 Ayrshire Women's Strokeplay Champion after a seven shot victory over the historic Prestwick Golf Club links on Sunday the 2nd of June in the championshoip, sponsored by Lomond Property.
In testing, breezy conditions, the US college student returned a five over par scratch score of 79 to take the premier trophy on the day, ahead of Loudoun clubmate Liz Keohone on 86.
Debbie Watt (Belleisle Ladies) finished third scratch on 87 by virtue of the better inward half over Alex Glennie (Kilmarnock Barassie).
The sizable contingent of competitors from Arran who travelled to play in this years championship enjoyed success when Valerie Crawford (Lamlash) returned a nett score of 74 off her 12 handicap to win the Ayrshire Women's Handicap Championship trophy by two shots from Lynsie Bulloch (Irvine) who returned a nett 76 off her handicap of 14. The other two nett prizes were won by virtue of the better inward half with nett scores of 77, by Elaine Thom (Troon Welbeck) off 20 and Shirley Ann Steven (Irvine) off 18.
The nearest the hole prize at the par three second was won by Lynsie Bulloch (Irvine) with a shot to 51 cm while the nearest the hole in two at the eighteenth was won by Lee Ann Haddow (Belleisle Ladies) at 198 cm.
Trophies and prizes were presented to the successful competitors by Ayrshire Golf Association President Andrew Gilligan at the conclusion of the championship.
