WOMAN'S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Five Ayrshire players in the field at Kilmarnock (Barassie)

There are five Ayrshire players in the reduced field of 95 who are contesting the Woman's Amateur Championship, which is taking place at Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club, between the 7th and the 12th of June.

Qualifying rounds take place on the 7th and 8th of June with the top 64 players progressing to the matchplay rounds from Wednesday onwards.

Hannah Darling (Broomieknowe) leads the field after the opening day, returning a 5 under par score of 68 to lead by 3.

Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) and Hazel McGarvie (Royal Troon) are well place in joint 14th place after day one, following rounds of 74, one over par.

Luisa Gibson (Irvine) is two shots further back after a 3 over par score of 76, putting her joint 32nd, whilst a 78, five over par, from Rachel Foster (Prestwick St Nicholas) leaves her in joint 49th place after round one.

Freya Russell (Royal Troon) had an 18 over par score of 91 in the opening round, leaving her in 94th place.
