In testing conditions, Smyth negotiated the course, from the championship tees, in a two under par score of 69 to win by four shots from his nearest challenger Rory McKenzie (Troon Welbeck)
Stuart Robin (Prestwick St Cuthbert) was third on 74 whilst the next four places were shared on 75, by Sandy Buchanan (Prestwick St Nicholas, Iain Brown (West Kilbride), Jim Johnston (Ayr Belleisle) and Steven Wallace (Prestwick St Cuthbert)
