Both the Ayrshire A and Youths teams suffered defeat by 4.5 - 5.5 at the hands of Lanarkshire on Sunday 10th October in the third of the five match West Of Scotland Inter County series.
The A team were at home, entertaining their visitors at Irvine Ravenspark. Ayrshire got off to a good start with Steven McEwan and Tommy McInally winning the opening ties but the match was levelled with defeats for George Robertson and Michael Smyth.
A narrow win By Craig Hamilton put Ayrshire ahead and Scott Brown added a further half point. Jamie Mackay gave Ayrshire hope for a win in the match with a crushing victory in his tie but, needing onlty one point from the remaining three ties, the Ayrshire side were edged out by their visitors who took the final three ties in the match for the narrowest of wins.

The corrsponding Youths match, played at Drumpellier, was a very tight affair throughout, with six of the tem ties being decided on the final green.
