Ayr resident Jonathan Lomas continued the good form that saw him play in all four rounds of the Open Championship last week, when he teed up in the Callaway/Audi SPGA Order Of merit tournament at Lanark on Tuesday 22nd July.
Former Walker Cup player Lindsay Mann led the way after the first round on six under par 64, with Lomas just one shot behind overnight after shooting 65.
Jim McKinnon (Irvine) is also well placed after an opening round of 72, two over par.
Former West Kilbride club champion Graeme Fox (East Kilbride) is two better than McKinnon overning, on 70.
