PRESIDENT'S PUTTER - Semi final line up confirmed

The semi-final line up for the 2024 handicap club team knockout competition for The President's Putter has been confirmed, with the remaining quarter finals now concluded.

After a 3-0 away win over Wallacetown in the quarter finals, Ardeer will now host The chase in the semi finals.

Royal Troon beat Largs 2-1 at home in their quarter final match and will now host Moorpark in the semi finals.

The semi-final matches are due to be completed by the 25th of August, with the final scheduled to take place during Finals day at Ballochmyle on Sunday the 1st of September.

SCOTLAND TEAMS - Further international honours for Royal Troon trio

Three Royal Troon golfers have received further international recognition, being named in Scotland teams for forthcoming international team events.

Robert Jenkins


Robert Jenkins and Paul Moultrie have both been named in the Scotland side that will contest the European Senior Men's Team Championship at Black Sea Rama Golf Club in Bulgaria from the 3rd to the 7th of September.



Freya Russell


In addition Freya Russell, who was runner up in the Scottish Girls' Championship recently, has been
named in the Scotland Women's team who will take part in the Home Internationals at Murcar Links Golf Club from the 7th to the 9th of August.

AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - Irvine Ravenspark and Prestwick St Nicholas locked together at top of Division 3

Irvine Ravenspark and Prestwick St Nicholas are locked together at the top of Division 3 of the Ayrshire Scratch Leagues after the latest fixture and confirmation of all results received to date.

Both teams have three wins from three, with Irvine ravenspark having a slightly better tie difference over the matches played.

In the most recent fixture played, Prestwick St Nicholas had a good 4-2 win away to Redburn.

Other results now confirmed include Irvine Ravenspark's home win over Rowallan Castle and Girvan by 5-1 and 4-2 respectively.

There are five fixtures remaining to be played in the section, including Troon Welbeck vs Prestwick St Nicholas, Redburn Vs Irvine Ravenspark, Girvan vs Redburn, Troon Welbeck Vs Redburn, and the crucial tie between the leaders where prestwick St Nicholas host Irvine Ravenspark.

WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY UNDER 18 BOYS LEAGUE - Ayrshire draw away to Glasgow

Ayrshire lie in second place in the West of Scotland Inter County Under 18 Boys League, for The Wishart Trophy, after completion of the third series of fixtures on Sunday the 28th of July.

In their latest match, against Glasgow at Ralston, the Ayrshire team were losing 4-3 with one tie remaining on the course, involving Dylan Scally (West Kilbride) and Joe Lynch of the host club. In the final tie, Lynch turned a single hole deficit with two to pllay into a single hole win to give Glasgow a 5-3 win in the match.

Some time after completion of the match, it came to light that the Glasgow player involved in the final tie was in fact over age and not eligible to take part in the match in the match, and consequently the tie was awarded to Ayrshire, resulting in a 4-4 match score overall.

Fraser Craib (Sandyhills) lost to Liam Moran (Irvine) by 5&4

Gregor Campbell (Glasgow) beat Aidan Hay (Irvine) by 2&1

Brandon Melville (Haggs Castle) lost to Scott Newman (West Kilbride) by 7&6

Fraser Thomson (Pollok) lost to Harris Fleming (Royal Troon) by 3&2

Toby Mathers (Pollok) beat Jack Broadfoot (Royal Troon) by 5&4

Joe Lynch (Ralston) Disqualified against Dylan Scally (West Kilbride) W/O

In the other match played on Sunday the 28th of July, Lanarkshire and Dumbartonshire drew 4 - 4 at Colville Park GC.

The next series of matches take place in August, Dumbartonshire hosting Stirlingshire at Clober and Ayrshire hosting Renfrewshire at Ayr Belleisle, on Sunday the 18th, and Glasgow scheduled to host lanarkshire at a venue and date to be confirmed.


  

GARY BRYDEN MEMORIAL SALVER - Semi finals confirmed

The full semi final line up for the scratch club team knockout competition for The Gary Bryden Memorial Salver has been confirmed.

In the outstanding qquarter final tie, Kilmarnock Barassie had a 2-1 home win over Troon St Meddans.

The semi finals, due for completion by the 25th of August are:-

KILMARNOCK BARASSIE Vs BALLOCHMYLE

ROYAL TROON Vs AYR BELLEISLE

The final is scheduled to take place during Finals day at ballochmyle GC on Sunday the 1st of September.

AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - Division 1 latest

Although Prestwick St Cuthbert have won the 2024 Ayrshire Scratch League Division 1, there is still plenty to play for as fixtures continue.

In two recent matches, Kilmarnock Barassie moved into third spot with a 3.5 - 2,5 away win at Ballochmyle while irvine had a 4.5 - 1.5 home win over Royal Troon to move into second place in the table.
